Understanding The Problem

Uptake by Non-Smokers

E-cigarettes have been shown to be a useful tool to help people quit smoking, and for that reason I support their use (in the short term at least.)

However, there is increasing uptake by individuals, both adults and children, who have never smoked who are now taking up vaping and becoming rapidly addicted to nicotine.

We support all people looking to quit vaping, but this is the main demographic of people who we are looking to support: never-smoker vapers. Currently, there is a distinct scarcity of resources and information available to help, including help in the form of formal support if needed.

Health
Concerns

Nicotine is the third most addictive drug after heroin and cocaine. There are proven health concerns regarding nicotine itself.

A detrimental effect on the growing brain (up to the age of 25), a gateway effect to smoking, and an association with a higher risk of having a second addiction.

However, vaping hasn’t been around long enough for any data to emerge about it’s long-term safety.

That being said, would you, or would you be happy knowing any child, be willing to take a risk knowing there is a safer alternative – fresh air.

The Growing
Epidemic

The rate of vaping uptake has been steadily increasing in the last few years, which is a cause for growing concern.

In the UK in 2024, 1 in 5 children aged between 11-17 had tried e-cigarettes. In numbers, that’s almost 1 million. 230,000 were vaping more than once a week.

For young adults aged 16-24, there were a further 1 million never-smoker vapers – half of which vaped daily.

Disposable single-use vapes, containing 2% nicotine, were the device of choice in the majority – as much as nicotine a pack of cigarettes.

The Mission

To raise awareness of a growing health epidemic, create a vault of useful resources and support for those motivated to quit vaping, and target the most vulnerable demographic – children and young adults. Working together through a combination of support:

A Call to Action for Vapers

The Founder, Dr Marc Picot

An ex-vaper and Doctor aware of the difficulties in beating nicotine addiction in the form of vaping, I created this mission as a passion project. A last resort attempt in a desperate situation, I tried nicotine in the form of vaping to treat a very distressing side effect, called akathisia, of a medication I was taking to treat depression.

Not only did it not work, but it took a while to realise, and accept, that I was addicted to vaping. It took only one week before I was hooked.

After seeking professional help with limited success, I decided to delve deep into my own research during my recovery. Collating resources along the way, using my medical background to translate the information I found into how it could be used for vaping addiction, I created this project to help anyone who feels they are in need of help with vaping cessation – whatever your reason may be.

Along the way, some of the stories I heard were deeply concerning. Children committing criminal acts to get hold of vapes by theft and 9 year olds being caught vaping in schools. Vapers desperately wanting help to break the nicotine addiction feeling stuck and a slave to their vape but not knowing where to turn for help.

So came this mission; based on supporting anybody wishing to quit vaping and raise awareness of one of the current issues we as a society currently face today. An issue that all society should take with paramount importance: our health, and in particular the health of our future – the youth of today.
